Day 1 – Transfer from Livingstone Airport to Waterberry Lodge

Upon arrival at Livingstone airport after your International flight, your guide will be waiting for you at the airport will help you with your luggage, and later transfer you from the Airport to Waterberry Lodge in Livingstone which will be your home for your first three nights in Zambia.

Day 1 to Day 4 - Waterberry Lodge in Livingstone

35 minutes from Livingstone in a lovely, secluded position on the banks of the spectacular Zambezi River with views to the Zambezi National Park on the opposite bank.

Our small, friendly, informal lodge is famous for its staff, food, gardens, and tranquil riverbank setting. Within easy reach of Victoria Falls but away from all the hustle and bustle of Livingstone, it’s a perfect base for visiting the amazing Falls and enjoying the wide range of activities around Livingstone before heading off to explore wonderful Zambia. We’re also within easy reach of neighboring Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

Have a look at the River Farmhouse, built on the site of the original farmhouse on the riverbank, a separate house for families and groups traveling together.

The main double-story lodge building overlooks the Zambezi and the game park on the opposite bank. Upstairs the main lounge is open to the thatch with comfortable seating, magnificent views, books, an unusual collection of old African maps, and some excellent paintings by local artists.

Meals are served in the ground floor dining area or alfresco on the sun terrace and deck overlooking the river. Guests may choose to have private dinners on their terraces or one of the secluded pontoons or platforms around the lodge. Tea, coffee, and biscuits are available all day, and waiters are standing by to serve drinks.

Wifi is free of charge and mobile phone signals are generally more reliable than the landline.

Guests love our informal style and our friendly, welcoming staff who do all they can to make your stay a memorable Zambezi experience.

Waterberry’s seven cottages are set around sweeping gardens and lawns – some on the riverbank, some overlooking the private lake with its beautiful birdlife.

The double, twin, or family en-suite bedrooms are open to the high thatch (nice and cool in the hot sun), with mosquito nets, overhead fans, and air conditioning. Bathrooms have bath robes, toiletries hair dryers, and baskets for our free laundry service.

Every room has a terrace with lounging furniture for sunbathing, birdwatching, private dinners or just relaxing……ideal for recovering from a long flight, or after the rigors of early morning and late-night safari drives.

Day 4 – Flight from Livingstone to the South Luangwa National Park

Depending on your flight from Livingstone to South Luangwa, at some stage on this day, your safari guide will pick and transfer you from Waterberry Lodge to Livingstone airport for your local flight from Livingstone to Mfuwe in the South Luangwa National Park.

Day 4 to Day 7 - Luangwa River Camp in South Luangwa

The South Luangwa National Park marks the end of the Great Rift Valley, one of the last remaining unspoiled wilderness areas and possibly the finest wildlife sanctuary in Africa.

It is through this that the great meandering Luangwa river runs, with its ox bow lagoons, riverine-supported woodlands, and large plains, all of which play host to huge concentrations of game including elephant, buffalo, leopard, lion, giraffe, hippo, and over 450 species of birds.

Luangwa River Camp sits nestled under an ancient ebony grove on the banks of the Luangwa River overlooking the game-rich area known as the Luangwa Wafwa.

This small and intimate camp with just five bush suites, along with its setting and location creates a real “wow” factor and a romantic feeling simply flows through the camp.

Day 7 – Road transfer from Luangwa River Camp to Malawi

After breakfast, your safari guide will transfer you from Kafunta River Lodge to Latitude 13 Hotel in Malawi where you will overnight on your way to Kaya Mawa Lodge at Likoma Island.

This road transfer will take you approximately 4 hours driving on a smooth tarred road from the South Luangwa National Park to Malawi.

Latitude 13 Hotel is the best place to stay in Lilongwe for clients going to or coming from Lake Malawi. This hotel is more stylish, yet simple and spacious, allowing you to enjoy a perfect stay in a quiet, leafy lane on the northern edge of Malawi’s capital city, and between Kamuzu Airport and central Lilongwe.

An 18-meter pool and state-of-the-art fitness center with only a hop, skip, and jump from your front door is also one of the features of this beautiful small hotel.

A 42” flat screen TV, in-room safety, and high-speed internet access are just some of the amenities found at Latitude 13 Hotel.

Day 8 - Flight transfer from Lilongwe International Airport to Kaya Mawa Likoma Island

Five full days to enjoy the splendor of this luxurious and peaceful resort!! There are plenty of activities to be enjoyed both on and underwater. Lake Malawi is Africa’s 3rd largest lake and is home to a wide variety of aquatic life – the clear waters around Likoma Island are excellent for diving and snorkeling.

The Island itself has plenty of treats in store and you are free to explore on foot, by bicycle, or on quad bikes. A visit to St Peter’s Cathedral is highly recommended. This remarkable building, built by missionaries at the turn of the 20th century measures over 100mts in length.
