This marks the end of your trip to Zambia while the beauty of Botswana will be waiting for you.

Today you will arrive in Kasane and will be transferred to your safari lodge on the Chobe River for your 2-night stay at Muchenje Safari Lodge. There will be time for an afternoon activity, experiencing the wildlife of the Chobe on a game drive or romantic boat cruise. You return to your safari lodge for cocktails before a candlelit dinner with the sounds of the African night serenading you.

DAY 2: Spot wildlife as you cruise along the Chobe River

The lodge is outside the National Park and it will be an early start this morning. Today you will explore the Chobe National Park, famous for its large herds of elephants, on game drives and romantic boat cruises or you may choose to do some fishing for the legendary Tigerfish.

You could also decide on a morning activity to Victoria Falls, which is a short drive across the border. During the heat of the day, a cruise out on the river for a spot of fishing and just being in nature is the perfect siesta time.

The afternoon activity will be the best time for a boat cruise leading into a sunset cruise, to experience the magic of the Chobe River. The birdlife in the area is exceptional even for those who have never been interested in birds before.

DAY 3: Savuti

Early Morning drive to the Savute area where you will be spending 1-night Camping on a 4 x 4 with a roof tent. You will arrive in time for lunch before settling.

There will be time for an afternoon game drive to experience this legendary area with sundowners in the bush before returning to the game camp for dinner.

The activities in the Savute revolve around game drives where the professional guides will search for the wildlife that has made the Savute part a legend. Discover why many documentaries have been filmed in the area. In recent years, the Savute has undergone a major transformation from a very dry area to a wetland.

The Savute Channel now flows along its whole length, attracting vast numbers of the game to the life-giving waters. Morning activities begin with an early wake-up call followed by tea and coffee.

DAY 4: Makgadikgadi Experience

Leaving early, we travel to rural Botswana to Nata, our base for our expedition to the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, situated in the Kalahari Desert. This is a relic of the enormous Lake Makgadikgadi that dried up thousands of years ago and is one of the largest networks of salt pans in the world.

Although not much can survive here during the harsh, dry, windy season, once the rain falls the pan attracts migrating animals including wildebeest and huge herds of zebra, with predators not far behind.

During the afternoon we will venture on to the salt pans in an open vehicle drive to experience the stark, endless terrain stretching to eternity and devoid of human habitation. The dry and salty earth of the salt pans supports little plant life, leaving the land largely barren. Rolling grasslands and some baobab trees grow along the fringes of the pans, supporting some animals and birds.

Tonight we camp on the outskirts of the Makgadikgadi Pans near Nata (upgrades available). Camp features include a swimming pool, gift shop, ATM, bar-lounge area, and restaurant.

DAY 5: Nxai Pan Camping

An early wake-up and breakfast ensure you are ready for the adventures of the day. Knowledgeable guides will share their passion for the area with you. Nxai Pan is part of the Makgadikgadi Pans complex, a fascinating area for the true African Safari traveler.

A waterhole in front of the bush camp provides excellent viewing during the hot hours of the day when the animals come down to slake their thirst. The afternoon activity will allow you to explore the area in greater depth before sundowners and dinner at the bush camp. And Early Morning Drive to Maun.

DAY 6: Light aircraft flight over the Okavango Delta

On arrival in Maun, you will be met and transferred to Tubu Tree Lodge in the Delta by light aircraft, with the tapestry of the landscape below you providing the perfect introduction to this romantic Botswana Ultimate safari. The permanent Delta is a place of islands, channels, and forests all woven together in an inspiring visual feast.

There will be time for a leisurely cruise before sundowners and a candlelit dinner under clear African stars.

DAY 7: Okavango Delta

Your 3-day excursion of the Okavango Delta starts today. The Delta is a result of what happens when the Okavango River flows in the Kalahari Desert, and you can discover the secrets that are hidden between its intricate channels on an exciting excursion.

If you are lucky you might get a glimpse of an elephant, buffalo, hippo, lechwe, wildebeest, giraffe, lion, cheetah, and crocodile. Sail on a dugout boat into the heart of the Delta and absorb peace and tranquility, as you admire the wonderful bird sightings.

DAY 7 & 8: Explore the Delta waterways

Your day starts with a wake-up call and tea or coffee before you enjoy breakfast on the edge of a large lagoon while listening to the African day come alive. You may choose to go on a boat cruise or a mokoro ride. Another option is to add a little adventure to your African safari and walk on one of the islands.

During the midday and early afternoon, you can relax at the bush lodge or in your room, taking your lunch at leisure, before the afternoon activity to explore more of the area. The Delta nights are special, with the sounds of the nocturnal creatures lulling you to sleep.

DAY 9 & 10: Return to Maun for your onward journey to Machaba Camp.

A flight from Tubu Tree Camp takes you into another world of desert sand and scrub. Your bush camp for the next 2 nights is situated in the legendary Machaba Camp. From here you can explore the area on game drives, looking for the predators.

Perched on the edge of the Okavango Delta, Machaba Camp offers the dual advantage of viewing large wildlife populations and exploring the tributaries of the Delta’s outer reaches in a mokoro canoe.

DAY 11 & 14: Return to Maun for your onward journey to Chief‘s Island.

On arrival in Maun, you will be met and escorted to the light aircraft flight that takes you directly to Chief Island. You will be surrounded by reed-filled waterways of the seasonal Delta floodplains, lush grasslands, and a sparkling lagoon in front of your Botswana accommodation. This awe-inspiring setting combined with romantic tented accommodation and great game viewing activities makes this the ideal first stop on your Botswana Safaris

There will be enough time to settle in and refresh before your first sunset game drives into the African bush. For the next 2 days, you will explore the waterways of the Okavango Delta under the guidance of experienced rangers and trackers.
